Ying Hua, Assistant Professor, Cornell University

Ying Hua has been conducting research on the effect of passive strategies on building energy performance, building systems integration, life-cycle analysis of green building strategies, building post-occupancy evaluation, relationship between building environment and occupant perception and satisfaction, and the impact of workplace spatial layout on interactive behavior and team performance. The goal of her research is to inform the design, construction, operation, and re-engineering of built environments and building sector policy-making to enhance the quality of built environments and the health and performance of their occupants while reducing the energy demand of the building sector.

As an Abe Fellow awarded by the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership and the Social Science Research Council, Dr. Hua currently carries out research on the stakeholder interaction and collaboration models in the building sector post Kyoto Protocol in Japan, US, and China. Related to this research, one of the courses she is teaching was awarded Excellence in Green Building Curriculum Incentive by the US Green Building Council.
