Colleges and universities, as well as corporations with significant research activities and campus operations, are focused on shaping the world of tomorrow. Sustainability is increasingly recognized as a key issue in this endeavor.
Institutions committed to pushing this envelope understand that they have a leadership role for advancing knowledge, technology, and tools to create a sustainable future. This includes developing and utilizing their campuses in a way consistent with their overall goals for a sustainable future. As campus sustainability programs become more sophisticated, there is an increasing need for sharing experiences, measuring achievements and reporting performance. This requires ongoing conversations in networks of leading scholars and practitioners.
The ISCN was founded in January 2007. Our first international conference occurred in April of that year. The ISCN-GULF Charter was developed in late 2009 as a partnership with the Global University Leaders Forum.
The ISCN Mission and Approach
The mission of the International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN) is to provide a global forum to support leading colleges, universities, and corporate campuses in the exchange of information, ideas, and best practices for achieving sustainable campus operations and integrating sustainability in research and teaching.
